We left Leverick Bay at first light on Sunday morning and headed West to the ‘Dog Islands’ where the Capt. was planning on doing a few scuba dives. About an hour later we arrived at Seal Dog Island and looked for a spot to moor or anchor when Tia spotted something in the water. With all eyes scanning the waves we didn’t see anything…until a dolphin swam up the starboard side of our boat, from right under our keel!!
The excitement on board peaked when we spotted 3…, no 4…wait, 5 dolphins in total! For the next hour, they played around our bow, swimming as we motored along, playing with us and giving us a beautiful memory.
Capt. then jumped in the water and hung off the back of the boat to try to get some underwater footage with the GoPro. One dolphin in particular was curiously looking and ventured closer, but just wouldn’t swim all the way over.
It was definitely a highlight of the trip as our Charter Company told us that some people go 20 years sailing the BVIs and never see them. We feel lucky and blessed to have enjoyed this special moment.
(we would post more pics and video but the internet connections here are extremely spotty and slow...this post took me 20 mins to upload)

We eventually made our way to Marina Cay last night and grabbed a mooring ball in the tightly packed field of yachts. Max and the Capt. went snorkeling out on the reef and saw a few stingrays and an Eagle Ray!
We had an issue with our propane tanks and the Charter Co. met us at Trellis Bay with newly filled tanks, however the propane still wouldn't flow to the stove. Capt. had a long look at the system and figured out that a wire had come out of the solenoid. A few clips with the pliers and some electrical tape got things working again, thank goodness!
With inclement weather coming in quickly, we decided to retreat back to Leverick Bay and made it just in time. The winds have picked up and are supposed to be gusting at a constant 25kts for the next few days. We will hunker down here in North Sound until Mother Nature lets us stretch our sails once again.
